QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH
My Approach: An informed and compassionate approach to therapy. My aim is to provide a safe, confidential space in which we can make sense of your difficulties, and explore changes you may be able to make order to reach your goals, and experience life more enjoyably. As well as these 'active' aspects of therapy, I aim to provide you with the time to reflect on yourself and your life, which is often simply not available to us in this world of constant demands, and to do so with warmth, empathy and understanding.
During our consultation,we will work out together what it is you are looking for in therapy, so that our apporach can be tailored to your particular aims.As such, we can use ideas from CBT, psychodynamic and body centred schools of psychotherapy to produce an individually tailored, evidence - based therapy suited to your needs.
Qualfications and Experience. Deborah Golend Chartered Clinical Psychologist,Bsc Msc CPsychol
Since completing my professional training at University College London in 1993, I have worked in both NHS, education, public and private settings, providing psychological assessments and individually tailored therapy for people with a wide range of difficulties. I worked in the NHS within Adult Mental Health teams for 10 years, specialising in working with surviviors of Childhood Sexual Abuse and Chronic Pain conditions. I subsequently set up a school based Clinical Pscyhology service in a large secondary comprehensive school working with children and their families.
To date, I work in a Specialist Trauma Unit within Transport for London and maintain a private practice. I receive regular supervision of my work in line with the standards set by the BPS and am committed to regular continuing professional and personal development.
As an adjunct to my work as a Clinical Psychologist I trained as a Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner (advanced level) a few years ago. Although this is separate to my work as a therapist, my knowledge and experience of how trauma and emotions are held within the body has become integral to who I am and how I practice.
